can someone please tell me the proper way to bleed my home radiators...

Hi jimmonas
I assume that you have a key to fit the side of your radiator. You insert the key into the opening, usually at the right hand side of the radiator and turn anti clockwise until the air is released. You should hear the air pressure reducing. Make sure the radiators are turned off, or you may well burn yourself. Place a jug or basin underneath whereyou are bleeding them to catch the water. Turn the key clockwise to shut off the valve. You should have nice and warn radiators after that. You might also get a bit of dirtty water while you are doing this.

Do NOT unscrew the valve more than one full turn if rad is hot. Is screw comes out you will BURN yourself with escaping hot water.

thanks for your tips.. can you bleed with the radiators boyh on and off ?? and i also heard that you had to start downstairs and work up or start with the radiator nearest to the boiler, is this true ??

It does not really matter which one you start with
It is safer to do them when the heating is off, but of it is on, make sure your radiators are turned down to a low setting so that you do not get a bad burn from the water.

If there is a lot of air in the system and you have a combi, you'll probably have to keep bringing the system pressure up.

i just wanted to say thanks too - i have kept needing to set the pressure on the combi up all winter to keep it ticking over... think i'll have a go too
