Buggy dilema!

Im desperate for other peoples opinions and advice so if you have any ideas i would be very grateful.
Im currently 3 months pregnant with baby no 2 it is due on the same day my daughter is 2 and cant decide if we need a double buggy or i should juggle a single, buggy board and baby carrier?!
Our daughter is a V big girl in 2- 3 years clothes at 17 months old so the only double she fits in thats also suitable from birth is �500! (money V tight at mo)
Also she has always been very advanced and has been walking for 8 months now so dont know if she will be walking a lot quicker by then and refusing to get in the pram anyway!

And (as if story wasnt long enough sorry) she still sleeps A LOT in the day anything between 4- 6 hours a day so not sure what i would do about that?!

AHHH Help its really stressing me out and i change my mind daily!

Sorry, but I tried a tandem with my daughter and my friend's daughter who was very big for her age. Because the bigger child sits in front, it makes the pram hard to manoeuvre (sp?).

My kids all had 2 1/2 years age gaps, and I did need a double buggy, I got a nice Mothercare one (although it's some years ago now) which was slightly narrower than some so no probs with shop doorways.

You could try second hand, as suggested - how about ebay?

Mine were 2 yrs 3 months apart and she still had sleeps in the morn and pm (yes arent we lucky) I had a front to back one with the back seat a bit higher as my travel system carry car seat clicked on to the back seat. That was a god send. I loved my double buggy and walked miles with it. As big one got bigger and little one was able to use the front seat I swapped them round to make steering easier. I would not have been without it and when big one started school (10 mins walk) I still occasionally used it till she got her stamina up for 2 walks a day and school.
Having said that my nephew (only 2 by a week) stood on the buggy board real well but obviously he cant sleep on that. The buggy board does make your back ache on a long walk though as you have to stretch over it. For certain occasions it is brilliant.
My mate had a side by side and i hated it as i did cause width problems.
If you have still got buggy from number 1 I would go for a front to back (with car seat attatchment) and a buggy boear so you have options but mr W does reckon we have more buggies than the shops!!!!
If you are anywhere near lincs I am just selling mine.
Deffinatly look for a s/h one as after a while once little one gets bit bigger you will prob go for buggy board but for first 9-12 months a double is a boon.
Good luck. If you buy s/h and dont like it you can always re assure yourself you did not waste alot. I have been looking and they are only bout 30-40 quid s/h. Mine was 150 new

Cripes i realize your dilema after reading your question again and shazzas answer. I looked up the weight limit on some buggies all I can say is that most of the kids in buggies shouldnt be in them if you follow those rules. I am sure the manufacturers are playing safe cus that is all just daft and evidence shows buggies do well above those limits within reason. I wonder how much shopping you are supposed to put in them?

I would buy a second hand double buggy and get a standing platforn thing for the back of the single buggy.

Thank you so much everyone! Shazz and Winny you made me giggle! Thanks for the offer shazz i might take you up on it unless winny you want to offer but for less money?! Think i will go for the one we have found but from ebay had a look and can get for just less than �300. Would love a tandem on width wise but put my whole weight on it when my little one was in it and i couldnt even lift it as if going up a curb! which isnt a good sign with only one baby in it!
If anyone else comes up with any ideas still v grateful!

I would try some one elses tandem ronnie tom perhaps a different style. I could do the kerb thing with 4 year old in front and nephew in car seat on back. Sometimes you do have to sort of lean forward over the bar and there is a knack but shouldnt have any problems. �300 spondoolies is a lot of money. XXXXXX

I got a Mama and Papas double buggy (side-by-side) and it goes through doors without any problems. It will also fit in the boot of a small car (I've got a Fiesta) and it is not too heavy. There are loads of second hand ones on E Bay.

My two boys are 13 months apart (now 6 and 5), I used an Emaljunga buggy suitable from birth (think it was called a husky) with a clip on toddler seat that secured to the front - this meant that it was not as long as a tandem, so not as difficult to manouver up kerbs. it also had suspension and fitted through doors - great for country tracks as well. It didn't give as good a view from the back seat as some, but by the time the youngest was sitting up and taking notice, he was big enough to sit in either seat, so we used to swap them about depending on who was sleepy and wanted to go in the back, or eldest would walk. This might be an option for you especially as no 1 will be walking well by the time no 2 is born and when you only need a buggy for one, just take the seat of the front and away you go.

p.s. forgot to mention, weight would not be an issue - both my boys were big - almost 10lbs at birth and now 2 years ahead of average size - so the buggy had a lot to cope with - and was still in perfect condition when I gave it away - apart from a cheap single stroller that I used for a little while, i never bought another buggy - unlike a friend who ended up with 7 for her two little girls!
