Peugeot 307 - fuel consumption

I picked up my 04 reg Peugeot 307 2.0 XSI 3dr last week from a main dealer. 1 owner, 26k miles with full history. I've had it exactly 7 days and I've done 153 miles on exactly half a tank - I'm presuming this'll cost me �30 when I fill up tomorrow. Only 153 miles on half a tank seems pretty steep to me.

The average fuel consumption according to the computer is 30.7 mpg, and thats despite driving it extremely light footed, and mostly on B roads to and from work.

any 307 owners have similar thoughts ?

My last car was a 1.8 Corolla and other recent cars have been 1.8 MR2, 1.8T Golf GTI and a 2.0 Vectra SRI and I've always managed to get about 250 - 280 mile on about �30 worth...

Speedos, computers and petrol gauges are not accurate.

The only way to get accurate mpg figures are to follow mdoo's advice.
