Freeze-dried vegetables

Why is it that I haven't been able to buy freeze-dried vegetables for more years than I can remember.

I was very fond of Erin Peas that came in foil packs inside a cardboard box when I was younger. These were discontinued years ago. I seem to recall other freeze-dried vegetables being available too.

Pot Noodles and the like contain freeze dried peas, peppers and other vegetables so someone is still making them. So why can't I buy them?

Frozen vegetables taste nothing like freeze-dried ones.

What's going on? Have you seen freeze-dried vegetables for sale?

Yep, I well remember 'Swel' freeze-dried onions, and their packets of mixed veg.
There are companies who still produce such products for the catering industry, such as this one.

Morrisons still sell them, they are on the same aisle as gravy, cous cous, packet pasta, all the dried stuff etc.
