daughters car burnt out

Not sure if this would be right section but here go's anyway. My dear daughter didnt have a good mothers day. She woke up this morning at 7 to find her husbands van broken into and her car gone.! That was until this afternoon when they had a call from the police to say car recovered,we think.!! When they got there all there is left is a shell of what was her car.! completely burnt out.!! With all the contents included. They have four children so things like dolls,coats,welly boots. babies new shoes.dvd,radio and car seats plus pushchair all gone up in flames. Why oh why do people have to do things like this!!!!!!!it makes me so cross.Stealing maybe but why not just dump it somewhere why did they have to burn it out.!! Things today are getting really out of control what has our future to offer.?

It is very sad about your daughters car and it is awful that some people have no respect for other people property. Hopefully the insurance will cover the damage ,i know that doesn't help with ther inconvience.

Oh lilacben that's just awful!! I'm sorry for what has happened to your daughter and her family, at least the items lost are replaceable and no-one was hurt but still you all must be so angry and upset!
I fear the same as you about what the future has to offer my 2 girls.
Hope the insurance comes through quickfast and the items gone can be replaced pronto.

We burn them out so no forensic evidence can link us back to the car. e.g. finger print, dna

Insurance is a wonderful thing , when you are paying them but as soon asyou want something back they are different. My daughter has to pay an excess on the policy �100, the things inside the car are only covered for �100, try buying one baby seat,2 children booster seats and 1child seat.shoes,boots,coat,dvd tv and radio.plus other things that was in there. for that �100.Oh and she cannot have curtesy car because it was completely burnt out and not damaged.? if that makes any sense. So through no fault of theirs they lose out all round. They have also been told insurance could take about 6-8 weeks.

CushtyFred is right, crims burn them out because they THINK we can't get forensic evidence off it. It makes it more difficult but not impossible.

Yes, insurance companies suck. They're all con artists. I would say invest in 2 crook locks, one for the wheel and one for the gear stick and put them on all the time. That's the only thing that stops cars getting nicked round my way. Mind you, the crims then get annoyed they can't get the car and kick the wing mirrors off instead. You can't win
