good shoot em up games ps2?

hi , any suggestions for any good shoot em ups on ps2? like war style, have recently played medal of honour/ call of duty and developed a taste for them, i dont really want ones with monsters /aliens in, just the good old fashioned human v humans , any ideas most welcome- :) thanks in advance.

Sorry mate, what you've got there are First Person Shooters.
A shoot 'em up would be something like RType or Ikaruga.

There's quite a few Medal of Honor games and Call of Dutys, I couldn't attest to their quality though. According to Play.com there's Medal of Honor: Vanguard, Rising Sun and European Assault; and Call of Duty: Finest Hour, 2 and 3.
Those two franchises pretty much have the monopoly on World War 2 based FPS' .

That's the limit of my knowledge I'm afraid, I try and avoid FPS' on my PS2 as I just can't play these type of games without a mouse.

Just found another - 'Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood'.
But IGN.com only gave it 5 out of 10.

Shellshock:Nam '67 isn't too bad. Conflict:Desert Storm and its sequels great for playing with mates. There's loads of Bond games too. Shame about the aliens cos I really enjoyed the Red Faction games when they came out many moons ago.

brothers in arms is good but there is a considerable strategy elelment to it, if you play it like MOH you will die many many times.

best ps2 shoot em up at the moment has to BLACK by Electronic arts. i have done the call of duty/medal of honour thing too and this really out strips both.

Mate! You need to get XIII !

Yeah, it's called XIII as in 13, and its like reeeally old so wont cost more than 5-6quid used!

It's so worth it though, if you like FPS it's a comic book style shooter but its proper ****... really it is worth looking for!

Just incredible fun really, its set about year 2000 or 2002 and it follows the assassination of a president (much like JFK)

and then it goes into the conspiracy in depth and this guy with amnesia is in way over his head...

Amazing fun! Please get it and reply to this when u know what it's like!
