Rebel

This is part of a prize quiz so I am not going to give the whole question which is made up of several parts which we have to link. However I do need help to get me started. So can anybody give me the name of "a rebel against both the Russians and British". Any ideas would be very welcome.

In the absence of any more learned contributions, indeed, ANY contributions, I'll try to help.

A person: What about Oleg Gordievsky (sp?) - Russian spy who defected to the UK in the 1980s, I think?

A country: What about Afghanistan, several wars/rebellions against Russian and British occupations?

Others: Burgess/Philby/MacLain/Blunt - was any of these a double agent?

If I get any (more?) bright ideas, I'll post again.
