Don't think love can ever be quantified just like contentedness or happiness: if you feel it, you'll know it, and be glad.
I suppose one can't quantify it properly, but the ancient Greeks had a go, they had three types of word for 'love' Eros, which is the passionate love
Philos, which was the friendship love and Agape, which means really I love you. If these were still in odern usage it would be a help soting out ones real emotional attachments.
Story of my life that!!!
I am always alarmed at how it is possible to feel real love for a person, break up for what ever reason, and end up absoulutely hating them! There is a very fine line between the two.
I think love can't be quantiefied because it is a personal experience and different for each individual.

I know I'm like a rabbit in headlights when it comes to romance. I'm completely dazzled by somebody and would easily get carried away during the 'honeymoon period' if it wasn't for the fact that I'm naturally very grounded. No matter how much I may be swept off my feet I always know that, for me, I have to reach the 2 year mark before I feel that I have a really good gauge on who my partner is. Unfortunately, I've never found anybody who has reached that landmark where I've still felt that they're The One. In fact, things usually go pear-shaped before 2 years!!

Great question by the way! :o)
I always thought I loved my boyfriend from school who I was on/off with for about 7 years, until I met Mr SB (not married though). Then I realised I wasn't in love with the first one, at least not anywhere near as much as I love Mr SB.
