Oil painting, child, sunflower, stairs, doors

Hi, I have been wondering for many years who the artist is: Its an oil painting of a child, a small girl, with her back to the painter and she is facing some stairs in a house. At top of stairs there is a long corridor with doors, some closed some ajar (I think with light streaming out). There is an oversized sunflower in the painting, I think wilting. I feel the atmosphere is quite dark.

Anybody out there in the big universe who think they might know the painting or artist?? Many thanks.
