TalkTalk refuse to give me a MAC code. What next?
5 Answers
My TalkTalk internet connection has been off for 3 weeks now. About a week ago I requested a MAC code from TalkTalk but heard nothing. Does anyone know who I complain to about this? I though they had to give you a MAC code by law.

There is another alternative. Cancel your agreement with TalkTalk. Arrange for supply to commence from your alternative provider after the nominated cease date. You don't need a MAC code if you have no provider.

Beware any extra cost if you land yourself without a mac code. I believe it can be (is) cheaper for your ISP (and possibly therefore for you) if there is a valid mac code for BT to play with than if they have to set you (on behalf of your new ISP) up afresh.
I had to wait weeks for my FairADSL connection to be removed, by them (I could do nothing about it - law and Oftel didn't seem to come into it then), before I could migrate and resume with broadband. I was worried they'd never do it, but they did in the end. (It was worth the wait).

Thank you all for your answers. Oddly enough, I had a phone call from TalkTalk out of the blue. They said there was a cable fault and they will have to buy a new part. Its taken them 3 weeks to acknowledge the problem. Meanwhile still no internet at home.
At least I can take some comfort from last night's Watchdog programme - Orange (the old wannadoo) came out worse than TalkTalk!
