You've posted your question on a UK-based site. While a few schools here use the title 'high school', this doesn't necessarily mean the same as elsewhere in the world. Our school qualifications are given in individual subjects. There is no overall diploma(and so there can't be 'credits' towards one) and nobody ever 'graduates' from any level of school. The word 'graduation' here is used solely for completing university studies. Finally, we don't refer to a 'senior year'. So, your question is bound to confuse us Brits!
You've not said where you're from but it's usually our American cousins who forget that life exists outside of the USA, so I'll guess that's where you are. If so, I'll point you towards Wikipedia, which states this:
"Students who attend high school and do not pass the 12th grade, or pass the 12th grade but do not meet the standard graduation requirements will not receive a high school diploma, but will instead receive a certificate of attendance."
