How about a Dremel Grout Removal Bit? Made specifically for the job.
Question Author
Well........that certainly makes sense!

I've got one of the grout removal bits for a Dremel - they work very well but make a load of dust. Also, they come in two sizes - the smaller one is very fragile and if you are not careful, they can break quite easily (I've done it !!). On top of that, they are really quite expensive - I think I paid between 6 and 8 per bit.
Good luck

Hi Lindamaree
dremel is hard work, i know i'm doing it this week, already broken 6 bits - good job they were the cheaper ones,
as fbg40 says very dusty work, if your just removing some grout decause it's discoloured to re-grout i found that a tile cutter type tool is quite good for scraping out - i've tried an old wood chisel! not very good - you tend to take out too much with a dremel.
HAVE FUN WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO DO
good luck.

Try taping the nozzle attachment of you're vacume to the end of the dremel there will be no dust what-so-ever and as for hard work I do not know why anyone would call it that...And the more grout you can get out the better as a thin layer will just crack and fall out in no space of time. You need to removing as much as possible and getting the new grout deep into the seam's of the tiles for maximun life and overall quality.
Hi gasman
what i meant by hard work was - i have worked out that i have 244feet of grouting to be dug out & my shoulders are killing me by trying to stop the dremel drifting across the tile surface.
