I had pain between shoulder blades and felt like someone was sitting on my chest. It came and went and almost built up like I was having a contraction. This was oesophagitis and was treated with diamorphine and proton pump inhibitors and the eventual removal of my gall bladder.
If your pain persist, you have shortness of breath or the pain radiates down your left arm I would recommend seeking medical attention asap.
It will be fine, and the doctors will sort you out but don't be a martyr. If you feel like you need help, get in touch with the hospitals.
All the best.

Could be a problem with gallstones - that can cause pain across the back, between the shoulder blades and can make you catch your breath. I had this problem a few years ago and thought I was dying! I finally had my gallbladder removed but was treated with diamorphine in the meantime. mifta is right though - if it persists try to get some medical help.
