Complaints? Well, a lot of us (me included) were complaining it was too easy. I think Kate is getting it just about right. MM would be proud of her. That said, I wouldn't mind if she made it tougher ... but not too much.
Just back from lunch out ... started early this morning and finished before going out .. yes it is fairly challenging but surely there's no satisfaction if it can be completed without overcoming a few unknowns.
think I agree with Cheshunt. Used to manage around 20 before needing to hit Google etc but last 3 weeks have only managed about 5/6. Not sure the idea of a xword is to be solved almost entirely by resorting to a pc
Ditto cheshunts comments; it used to be possible to get the majority of answers using reference books alone - remember those ! - now the internet appears to be an essential tool as a) I haven't got all the relevant reference books needed, and/or b) I can't find the time to complete the puzzle without using the internet. Maybe it should be re-named from GK (how many of the questions these days can truly be said to be GENERAL knowledge?) to the How Good are you at Searching the Internet Puzzle!
There are so many "fill in the squares" crosswords available for those who want them. And lets not forget the screams of derision which greeted Kate's early efforts.
I think what we have now is very much in the Michael Mepham tradition. Vote for Kate!
Frankly, I couldn't complete it without the help you all give me, and I really am grateful. Don't make them any harder, Kate - remember Kipling: "respect the aged".
