The US Survey Mile as used by the US Public Land Survey System differs from the International Mile (Imperial Mile, as used in the UK) by being 3.0mm longer. If you were planning a long bridge or tunnel, this might create a problem, but you won't notice a difference in the size of an inch between US and UK tape measures!

5 UK gallons = 6 US gallons within a small fraction of a percent.
Multiply UK gallons by 1.2 to convert to US gallons.
Divide US gallons by 1.2 to convert to UK gallons.
For greater precision use 1.201 or 1.20095045385.
One inch by international agreement in the US and UK equals 2.54 cm exactly.
The "US survey inch" which is rarely used is very slightly shorter being defined by 39.37 inches equal to one metre.
