Is there any way of proving that friends / family members owe you money or that your owe them money? Can it ibe made legal? It's to help my partner to deal with some of his debts, by owing it to friends / family / me at interest free rate. Just discovered he's been hiding just short of 10,000 in debt from me. We are trying to switich his cards, but his income is not high enough and his debts too high to switch to better accounts.

NEVER lend money to family and friends.
I was always told that if you lent money to family or friends you had better consider it a gift... ;o)
I concur,

after a bad experience when I leant a friend a few thousand pounds,
first payments where ok, then became erratic, then a problem,

i will never lend any money to either friends or family, even if they promise on their life to pay it back.
