Thanks very much everyone.California sounds nice but which part? I was looking on the net and theres so many places, Los angelels, long beach,San diego and so on.Any idears? Many thanks

if you are thinking of driving, try the coast along by Carmel, Big Sur, Monteray[ love it there] and here is a National Park in that area with all wild flowers and seals in the ocean and picnic and barbeque spots, lovely walks/trails.
San Francisco is great lots to do.If I had to choose between California & Florida it would definately be CA.

Go to San Francisco.

It is a great city, caters well for tourists, and has plenty to do.

Fishermans Wharf, Alkatraz prison, Golden Gate Bridge, Cable cars, and unlike many US cities, it is a wonderful city to walk round.

we went on a touring holiday round california this time last year and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We booked almost half heartedly as it was a coach holiday and wasnt sure if it would be all 'oldies', how wrong we were (made some very good friends that we meet regularly with). Titan made sure we saw everything that 'had to be seen' while we there.take a look at their website.

I would agree with vehelpfulguy go to SanFrancisco I have been there 2 or 3 times and would go back tomorrow if i could aford it but the bills have to come first such is life but with out a doubt go there you wont be disapointed

The coast highway is great, altho one time we had to take the 101 highway, inland, as there was a rockfall blocking 36 miles. If you drive, go LA to San Fran. Going south you might fall off the highway!! No fences and big drop down the cliff. Beautiful scenery along the road.

Don't miss San Simeon and the Hearst Castle. The motels right on the beach are gorgeous.`

Carmel and Monterey are beautiful, the 17 mile drive (with the seals etc) is at Carmel.

San Fran is wonderful and exciting and beautiful. Not 2b missed. Go over the bridge to Marin County, very relaxed, and wine country if u like.

San Jose has the Winchester Mystery House, well worth 2 hours. Check it on line.
