Hi,

Really struggled with this one this week - I still have a lot more blanks than I should have...

If you don't mind, I'll post a few which may help me complete the remainder; if not, I'll have to come back for help with the others too!

Any help is always greatly appreciated!

5a Attacked old Soviet aid, which was surrounded (6) ---D--

9a Artificial intelligence glances over to get cramp soother (9) -N----S--

18a A covert operation can camp up in stages (7) 0-E---- (Is this OPERATE? If so, I get the opera/stage reference I think, but not really the whole reason for operate?)

35a Rig knee up in its rank (7) R-E-I-G (I'm presuming that this is REEKING - but why?)

50a Underwriter is asked to donate something (9) --B--R-B-

Well, that's all the across clues that I've been stumbling over - hopefully if I can get help with these I can finish off the down answers that are missing!

Thanks.
