question about missed miscarriage ?
4 Answers
Hi there , i hope i dont upset anyone by posting this question , but just need some advice . If I was suffering a missed miscarriage, would i still be experiencing round ligament pains and VERY sore nipples , daily ? I am 16wks 3d pg , i heard babys h/b at 13wks 4d and all was well . I have never bled or had any cramping or anything like that throughout . I dont feel anything at all yet and i am not showing at all , and i am just very paranoid that something has gone wrong . The ligament pains can be quite strong some days and have had these all through pregnancy from around 10 wks when i found out . So . should i bother my midwife about my worry or is there a chance im just worrying for nothing ?? my next app is not till3 wks away !! This is my first pregnancy .Thank you for any replies in advance . xxxx

At 16 weeks your baby will be the size of a big grape so it would be unlikely that you would not have noticed if you had a missed miscarriage. Only a few women at this stage report the fluttering feeling of baby moving or even start showing yet, so try not to worry.
When I was pregnant with my first child I was constantly paranoid that something was going wrong and I don't think it is unusual for first time mums to feel this way. I didn't notice any movements until I was 21 weeks and I certainly didn't start showing until about the same time.
If you are at all concerned though I would contact your midwife. I have always found them to be fantastic, very patient and never make you feel like you are being neurotic!
Please try and enjoy your pregnancy because it is a wonderful thing, and I'm sure everything will be fine.X

Hello!
I fell pregnant a few years back and had my first appointment with the midwife to do all the paperwork, listen to heartbeat etc. She didn't find a heartbeat, but wasn't worried. A few weeks later, I miscarried, but luckily got pregnant again quite quickly. When the checking-in appointment came around, the same midwife came to see me again. She noticed the look on my face and asked if I was OK. I told her about what had happened, and said how worried I'd been that it would happen again, and that if she didn't find a h/b this time, I couldn't cope. She then told me she didn't always find one at so early a stage and that it meant nothing, but best of all, she said,"let's find this baby now, and if I don't find it today, I'm coming back every day until I do."
What I'm trying to say is that you've heard your baby - you must relax and not worry. It's so normal to fret over all of these strange things happening to you, but you must try not to! But most importantly, your midwife would hate for you to be worried, when she could so easily put your mind at rest. They really are special people. Go to see her immediately! When mine found a h/b that day, I cried and cried and cried, and all my worry vanished. Yours could do the same in an instant, and then you could enjoy your fantastic journey!
From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all the very best xx
