I tried to read it and gave up - the prose construction is dreadful, the plotting is ludicrtous, the characters unsympathetic, and the whole hype around the book and the film are nonsense. 'Mystery' for people with nothing much to do but amplify a rather silly initial concept.

I loved it. Couldn't put it down. Whether any of it is true or not, is irrelvant, you just have to enter into the spirit of the novel and let it carry you away

It was the first time in years I've felt the urge to throw a book away, it rips off several dozen books on the subject of the Holy Grail & the lead character is smug and patronising

I loved it, although most of his 'facts' aren't very reliable but atleast he has shown Christians some of the bull that the church has been involved in. Read Mary Magdalene by Lynn Picknett, The Jesus Mysteries by Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy. These are more factual, they will blow your mind.

the worst thing about the Dan Brown "phenomenon" is that this idea has been used in countless books, datnig all the way back to the medieval times. Somehow, this has been forgotten, making Mr Brown a very rich man. I read this piece of drivvel to settle an arguement between my parents - one loved it, the other loathed it. I am well and truly on my dad's side - it reads like it was written by a child, and the constant cliff-hangers (at the end of every chapter) becomes really irritating. This lucky man has chanced across an old theory, which has struck a chord in these times, and has somehow got away with it. Urgh, I hate myself for having read this book!!!

i did not think much to this book either personally i couldnt give a stuff about the amazing revelation that jesus shagged mary magdelin i had have been more suprised to find out he didnt !!! lol but i did read browns second book and i thought it was a beter written pacier read and that should have been made into a film maybe.!

Haven't read it but I've read The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail which is based on a hoax and a lot of gaps in history.

Each to their own, but I really enjoyed it - you have to take the book for what it is, a work of fiction. No matter how factual it is or isn't, it gets you thinking about things a little differently - hasn't that got to be a good thing?
