I have 4 chrysalis ready to hatch at the bottom of the garden on their sides. I have left them where they are but I was wondering do they need to be hanging onto something to hatch or can they hatch sideways lying down? I'm sure nature will take its course!

yeah they should be able to hatch like that if they were layed like that. i think the only real problem would be if they were moved around a lot, but like you say, nature will take its course!
