Athough I agree Cruise is a waste of space I doubt he is illiterate as, before he became a scientologist, he had spent time with the Dominicans with a view to joining the order.

While the Doms were the driving force behind the Inquisition and, therefore, not a barrel load of laughs, I suspect you would have to be well/ reasonably well educated even to aspire to join such an august order...even in these God forsaken times.
