DivX problems and video files crashing

i've copied some video files onto CD and playing them in DivX. Having problems with some of them in that they crash my system at various intervals. Even Ctrl+Alt+Del fails sometimes...occassional message saying Msgsrv32 (not responding)! CAN ANYONE HELP?

disable power management and screen savers . control panel-power-never never never or On the Device Manager tab, double-click the System Devices branch to expand it. Double-click Advanced Power Management Support. On the Settings tab, click the Enable Power Management Support check box to clear it, and then click OK.
