4d In zoology, having many feet or foot-like parts (7). I have P-L-P-D Could someone, please, confirm POLYPED as I cannot find this word in any of my dictionaries.
Many thanks Slaney, Aquagility and Town Crier.
I have re-studied my Ninth Edition of Chambers on page 1167 Polypod is defined as " an animal with many feet : a polypody". So, I will now go for Polypod, but think "Polyped" fits the bill better, even though there appears to be no such word. Once again many thanks all.
polyped does appear in the OED under poly - an animal having many feet. However, it also defines Polypod in its own right as "having many feet or footlike organs". soit looks as though the latter is favourite.
