pedophile? rape?
11 Answers
im a lad and 14, and my friend who is a girl is also 14. she has recently been going with a 18 year old lad. he seems fairly but i dont particually trust him. if her and him did any kind of sexual activity surely this would be classed as rape wouldnt it? or maybe im wrong. i dont want her to get into trouble either. i'm not sure if they have actually done anything togther or not yet but i am slighly concerned. im concerned because i think he will force her into doing something, but concerned that she could get into trouble.

As havingmysay22 says it is illegal so if you are really concerned about her and you don't feel you can speak to her about it maybe you could mention it to her one of her girl friends who could speak to her. You may want to tread carefully though as she may not thank you if she intends to have a relationship with this boy.

A four-year age difference doesn't sound like much (my bloke's five years older than me), but when she is still at school and he's old enough to have experienced something of the world, it can potentially lead to difficulties. Yes, if they embark upon a sexual relationship then it will be illegal and he could go to prison for it. She is unlikely to find herself in any legal trouble, but the emotional repercussions can be devastating.
However there is a rare chance that they are both mature enough to wait until she is old enough to take things further. What is important is that she doesn't commit herself to anything she isn't ready for (and she may not know herself precisely what she is ready for).
As her friend, it's not your place to censor or judge her. Just tell her your concerns and let her know that you will still be her friend no matter what happens, and that you will be there for her if it does all go wrong. If you were my friend and said this to me - and kept your word - I would value that more than anything.

he is not a paedophile as i assume she looks physically like a woman, not a child.
it would indeed be illegal - but if you are thinking of reporting him to the police or trying to cause some trouble here - think twice or be prepared to lose your friend.
when i was that age if any pal of mine called the police on the guy I have chosen, they would no longer be my friend.
are you jealous and want to date her yourself, is that what this is about?
as has been said, all you can do is tell herof your concerns, - or ask her out yourself - but don't interfere unless you actually know he has forced her or harmed her

I am a legal expert in these sorts of things and I can assure you unless evidence comes from her, he would not even get a ticking off by the police, let alone a caution.
The age to be able to give consent in the UK is 13. The actual age for consent is 16.
Pedos, in its true definition is an interest in pre-pubescent kids, so no he is not a pedo.
You can't stop them, and as she is consenting (whether pressurised by him or not) there is nothing you can do)
The law is an ass, he is clearly breaking it, but as with all crimes it has to be proved beyond all reasonable doubt. without her testimony, there is no case.
Finally, there is no way she will end up in trouble, apart from up the duff if she is not careful. She can not aid and abet any offence, because you can not aid and abet a law that is there to protect her in the first place.
The only way you can really catch him, without her testimony, is if he takes any photos of the adult variety on his phone or camera. These do not have to be naked ones, but must be sexual. The age for sexually gratifying photos is 18, unless the couple are married in which case it is 16.
