Interestingly, I read in the dog paper this week that staffordshire bull terriers are the 'it' dog for teenagers, and they all want one. 6 puppies x 500 plus is quite tempting and a lot of these puppies will undoubtedly be unwanted in a few months time. I am not pointing the figure at you spooke, but take care who you sell the puppies on to, and as divegirl says, if you are new to breeding you need to do some research as to worming etc.
Two Staffy puppies have been put to sleep in my local town after getting parvo - the young couple who owned them could not afford to get them vaccinated or to pay for their treatment.
Another owner asked us what should they feed their new Staffy pup - it is FIVE weeks old and only on weetabix.
A bitch should have a high protein food while she is feeding the puppies, (a complete dry puppy food would be suitable) and goats milk is also good for them.
Make sure she has a calcium supplement also, to prevent eclampsia.

Hi jules, sorry if my answer seems 'harsh', but I am sick to death of people who breed their dogs without even bothering to learn about the process. I am well aware that sometimes these things happen by 'accident', but even then, if you love your dog surely you would read up on the subject! A little knowledge goes a long way and any vet would be able to offer advice on feeding the bitch. That is of course assuming spooke had the intelligence to take the dog to a vet in the first place. :o[

Lisa - no offence taken, I knew exactly where you were coming from and had to hold back from posting a similar response, but was trying to offer best advice for the dogs and puppies sake. The argument with staffies has been going on for some weeks, and as I said before (under another profile name....long story!!), they are the 'it' dog and teenagers are demanding them to keep up their street cred. I cant believe any credible breeder would sell a dog without asking questions or doing a home check, particularly with some of the bulldog breeds, but there are a lot of people breeding puppies for a quick buck, and they have no interest to their future welfare.
spooke - this is an excellent book - may help give you some answers -
