Hy there am looking for a new car any of you know what a rover 75 is like.

Hy there I am looking for a new second hand car and ussualy go for fords but thought that I might try something different for a change, I must admit that I realy like the look of the rover 75 even though it does look like a poor mans jag.
Have been looking at them on e bay and most of them seem to have this lovely creamy couler leather interior and they look absoulutly stunning in red. It will have to be a fairly old one a v reg or something and of course a v6 auto.
Do any of you own one if so can you reccomend them and are they prone to certain things and any other general advise would be welcome.
oh and just one more thing I assume that there is plenty of room in the drivers seat as i am 6 foot 2 inches so need plenty of legroom.

They don't hold their value well and since production stopped parts are at a premium.
I'm an insurance underwriter and you'll find that you'll pay more to cover this vehicle for the reason i stated above. With parts at a premium you'll find that most accidents result in the car being written off. When claims cost insurers 12K to write it off instead of 2K to fix it you'll feel the burden of the extra premium.
At the end of the day though it's your choice as to what you like.

hi, my friend bought a 75 at the auction. lovely car to look at. the air-on was faulty and took hundreds of pounds to repair. shortly afterwards it had a problem with the electrics which took caffyns garage 2.5 hrs of prodding about, and the removal again of the front bumper in case they had trapped some wires, (as to to get to the air-con you have to remove the front bumper which they had done the week before,) eventually they changed the onboard computer(they had to take one off of a brand new 75 in the showroom as they had no spares) this cured the problem. total cost was around �700. other problem, my friend is 6ft 4ins and he reckons his head is touching the roof.but, he loves the ride, the design and thinks it looks beautiful. so after spending out loads of money he still loves the car. but if you are 6.2 tall, I should go and sit in one.

The magazine 'Car Mechanics' rave about this car. According to them,spares are readily available and its a bargain to own and run. I must say I was tempted to buy one,but I run 3 cars already!
Get on Ebay and contact 'peterincambs' he's the editor of CM and he sells alot of 75's via Ebay. I'm sure he'll give you some advice

I used to deliver cars for a living. If I'd got a long drive ahead of me, I'd pray that the car would be something really comfortable, such as a Rover. They always produced cars with a level of comfort which was only matched by manufacturers such as Jaguar and Audi. (They were, and remain, streets ahead of Ford and Vauxhall).
Lotus (who know a thing or two about cars) used Rovers for all of their company cars (except, of course, for the big bosses - who got a Lotus to drive). I've collected many Rovers from the Lotus plant in Norwich and delivered them back to the leasing company in the West Midlands. Whenever I got there, I didn't want to get out of the car because it was so comfortable.
The 75 was the best car that Rover ever produced and was widely praised by the motoring press. I'd certainly consider buying a second hand one.
