how would you prove you were out of the country? (not for me!!! for a friend!!)

The title says it all really. How would you prove you were out of the country. Do airlines keep records of people on their flights? Passports are rarely stamped these days, so that not an option. Not sure that visas are applicable either. Ideas?

Suppose it depends on who you want to prove it to and if you know about it (having to prove it) before your return.
I'm sure the police has other expectations of a proof than a suspicient partner for example.
I would imagine that most people turn off the date on their digital photos, if not, it is quite easy to reset the date on that, so no proof!
A postcard sent could have been arranged previously.
All photographs (with newspapers or such) could be fake.
