Astra van radio
I have a friend at work who is having a great deal of trouble trying to get his radio to work, he has the code from vauxhal but does not know how to enter it,
The head unit has no display and the code has a 9 in it, but the head unit has buttons 1 to 6 on it so we could not see how it is possible.
I would be greatful for any help on this matter.
Thanks.

If my memory serves me right, this is what I (think) you need to do.
Let's say it's a four digit code and the code is 4319....
Press button marked (1) four times to get the four
Press button marked (2) three times to get the three
Press button marked (3) once to get the one
Press button marked (4) nine times to get the nine
Hope that solves it!

JC's answer seems to be basically correct but you probably need to do something before and after what has been written. In many cases, you need to turn the radio on while keeping the 'AS' button pressed in. You can then enter the code. After entering it, you need to press and hold the 'AS' button.
If that doesn't work (or if it simply doesn't make sense), see here for possible instructions for your friend's particular radio:

(NB: You must use Internet Explorer to view that page. The animations, which demonstrate the methods, don't seem to load in Firefox).
