Why should the state and me the tax payer pay for the cost of childcare? You work full time you pay for it. You already get child benefit, maternity/paternity leave, you will have time off work when they are ill, the are going to be educated for 11 years at least, you probably get other tax concessions. As a single man in his mid 30's what do I get from the state? Nothing. If I was homeless they wouldn'y give me a house, but you have a couple of kids and they'll throw money at you.
Easy answer is have kids when you can afford it or don't have them. Simple.
