Childrens Book (which i read in the 80's at school)

has anyone every read/heard of a book called "the red Iris"? it's a childrens book about a family who set sail in their boat (the red iris) and have adventures. I have tried everywhere on the internet to no avail, I had started to read it in school but never finished it (hence the search) .... i even emailed them [the school] and the librairian was helpful, but unable to find anything. Don't know the author and i am 99% sure that is the right name of the book, has been driving me made.
