Toyota sludge problem
I have been told that Toyota's engines are truly designed for mid to high climates (having worked in S/east asia i can verify they are an outstanding vehicle )but low mileage use in colder climes leaves them with this problem, more so than other makes ?

It's the low mileage and soft driving that's doing it; not the engine design. Just drive it HARD every so often, or use it more; any car, not just a Toyota, will suffer oil sludging when used for short journeys where the engine never reaches it's proper running temperature....get it hot, and the problem will vanish.
