Electric shocks on body
In the last few days, every time I've switched on/off our brass light switches, or touched anythng metal etc., I've been getting electric/static shocks. It used to happen to me a lot at work when opening the filing cabinets. What can I do to prevent this happening as it's very unnerving? I did once read that you can buy an anti-static spray, but can't remember much else about it.Thanks.

I've heard some people are more susceptable to static shocks than others. Also, it can vary according to atmospheric conditions, humidity etc; even down to what you are wearing, such as man-made fibres, or the degree of insulation from your footwear.
I've never heard of any spray though!
Can you think of anything that has changed in the last few days?
brachiopod - You're probably right about my personality, lol. Today I've been wearing a navy Cotton Traders top, denim jeans, with no man-made fibres & cotton sox. I've been feeling a bit down though, so maybe the static shocks are to keep me on my toes!
Jules - I also get this when I go into department stores. It's very frustrating having to touch something 'rubbery' before touching anything metal. If I'm shopping with one of my daughters, they usually get the raw end of one of my shocks when handing me something - it's really weird! I hope we can find a cure for it J.
noddy - I don't believe it, are you psychic, or have you just been watching me & my husband come out of Roseby's curtain shop? We've literally just got back home after searching for venetian blinds to fit our windows. The 10ft bay, consisting of 1x6ft & 2x2ft, isn't a problem, but we've got to have the upstairs one made, as they don't do an 8ft for the bedroom off the peg!
Getting back to static bodies. I do have nice pair of green wellies, but they'd look hilarious without any clothes on! But then again..........!
Hi Smudge.
We get this a lot at work and I find specific shoes that I wear make it worse. Especially loafers or flip flops. Basically anything that drags along the carpet or if you shuffle when you walk. We had someone who came and sprayed the carpet with this anti static spray and I'm sure he said it was just diluted washing up liquid. You could try and spray it lightly around the house but I can see it could be a bit of a problem when going to department stores.
Hope this helps
smudge,
dry air has been known to cause this. air is especially dry in the winter because of the lack of humidity. try using a humidifier to put some moisture in the air.<a target='_blank'target='_blank' href="http://www.school-for-champions.com/science/staticcont.h tm
