Thanks for your reply my friend BUT this isn't the person of whom I was speaking....the guy I meant wasn't one of the band, he was the support act and turned out the most amazing sounds from his acoustic....stunning virtuosity.

I didn't realise that Martin Taylor was a regular member
of Wyman's group. And you've got me intrigued - if this
guitarist you're after is better than Taylor he must be very good indeed. I would put Taylor in the top two or three in
Europe at the moment. I'd be interested to know what CD you're referring to - or was it a live performance?

I've looked at his website and I'm beginning to think you're correct; the guy I saw supported BW&TRK at Basingstoke but I'm not sure of the year - probably 2002. I was led to believe that Martin Taylor played as part of the band because of this quote that I came across: "Bill will be fronting his band The Rhythm Kings, whose ranks include such renowned musicians as Georgie Fame, Albert Lee, Martin Taylor and Beverley Skeete" but the author may just have been mixed up. The guitarist to whom I refer stood alone on stage and produced the most amazing sounds from that acoustic, drumming on it and producing almost Hendrix-like effects - would this be Martin Taylor? I notice he was awarded MBE too!

I think it might well be Martin Taylor you're after. He is an
excellent guitarist, and I imagine he could produce the
effects you describe.

I'm a jazz man, and I'm familiar with Taylor's music in that field only. I can't imagine him indulging in such
Hendrix-like antics, but I'm sure he could if he wished.

I haven't heard of Tommy Emmanuel, probably because
he isn't an out-and-out jazz man. He certainly can play
the guitar though. I'll have to keep an ear out for him.
