I did ask this question before but haven't got an answer as yet. Re 19a - Billy chasing sweep
Can anyone please explain to this thicko how they get the answer of saucepan? Many thanks.

How many letters is it? The pan part looks right

Pan...sweep (as with a camera ) and the whole word is some sort of Dixie. But a billy can has got a wire handle which rules out saucepan

Sorry, the clue is Billy is dressing sweep (8) and several people have given the answer as saucepan but I couldn't fathom out how they got the answer! You've helped me with the sweep - pan. Thanks a lot.

Sauce = dressing. Pan = sweep. Billy = (loosely) saucepan.

I didn't know the clue was 'dressing' so clearly the answer is Saucepan but being pedantic I'm not convinced that it qualifies as a Billy!
