tempura/battered prawns

Does anyone know if I can use a regular batter mix to make tempura/battered prawns. Also, do I cook pranws first or let them to cook in the batter? Many thanks x

Normal batter mix is ok,don't cook the prawns before use,they cook very quickly.my wife puts sweetcorn,potatoes,carrots,pinch of salt and an egg or two, deep frys them in frying pan for a few mins each side.they are delicious.

Use sparkling water not normal water and this gives the batter an even lighter texture.
