why do we drive on the left side of the road when almost the rest of the world drive on the right hand side?

think its summat to do with befor cars peolple on horse back with the joust %99 were right handed so we stopped on the right side to fight with our strong arm could be wrong but thats what my grandad told me

singapore.malaysia,india,thailand,australia,new zealand,and probably another 4 that iv'e forgot. european was because of napolean,and all countries he conquered,yanks took the same stance,( dirty English we will drive on the right that will show them,)

I do hear they tried to change Ireland over to driving on the right. They let the HGV's start three weeks early to see it it would work.

if I remember right about ireland trying out driving on the right hand side of the road
busses were still to drive on the left for the safety of the passengers

Oh, and motor cyclists have a tendency to drive on the right too.........especially around blind corners. Bless them.
