VW Polo

Does anyone have any idea why my VW Polo 1.2 (02) has decided to start cutting out when idling!? Its fine when driving but as soon as I pull up at traffic lights etc and take it out of gear , the engine just cuts out?

This may not help at all, as it's many years since I had a similar problem. Mine turned out to be a pinhole in the rubber diaphragm of the fuel pump. It was ok with lots of revs but when you slowed at junctions it cut out.

A good mate was a Rolls Royce mechanic it - took him hours to trace it, then about ten minutes to repair!
