old game

does anybody know the name of an old pc game?
I believe the idea was to protect a base or something.
misiles or asteroids or whatever came down the screen and you had to click the screen to fire rockets that would explode where you clicked.
quite old. space invader - ish graphics.
anybody?

I think you are talking about Armageddon. it was also available on the ZX Spectrum.

i don't know if it was ever a pc game but the one i know of that fit's the description was an arcade game called missile command.

they are both essentialy the same game but the exact one i was thinking of was Armageddon. thanks guys. i need this to teach my mother to use the mouse. She is such a noob

it took about 20 minutes to get her to understand how to turn the pc on and off again. I think ive commited myself to eternal helpdesk support
