"The Late Show" Special
4 Answers
This is a long shot but I'll give it a go. In about 1993, the now defunct "The Late Show" on BBC2 ran a special programme entitled "No Nirvana," a compilation of studio performances by grunge / alternative bands of the time. It featured, amongst others, Rage Against the Machine, Sugar, Belly, Sonic Youth, and rather improbably, REM. Does anyone remember this? If so, does anyone know where I could get a copy of it. Someone taped over my old VHS copy years ago. Thanks.

I've no idea if it's commercially available, but I remember the programme well & had it myself on VHS for years. I don't think I've got it now, but have got a heap of old vids in my "C**p Room". Now you've mentioned it, I'll check 'em out as I'm interested myself. IF I find it, I'll post it on here for you.
Seem to remember Smashing Pumpkins "Rhinocerous" and (the mighty) Screaming Trees "Dollar Bill" on it as well. RATM's "Bullet In The Head" was flipping awesome!!
Oh my God! That would be fantastic! Yes, RATM were the highlight -they did "Bullet In The Head." Sonic Youth's "Drunken Butterfly" and "Dollar Bill" were the other standout tracks, but it was all pretty amazing. I remain a huge Mark Lanegan fan, "Bubblegum" is up there in the top 10 records released in the last decade in my view, plus I've seen him twice with Queens Of The Stone Age.
I know im like 2 years late or something but i manged to find a dvd from this place....
