'Jumping The Shark' is an expression used to describe the exact moment when a TV show reached a point beyond which it is just never the same again - for excample Bobby in the shower in 'Dallas'. It comes an episode of 'Happy Days' when Fonzie jumped over a shark on water skis, and this was seen as an act too far, and has passed into web-speak to mean that moment of no return. It doesn't matter for shows like 'You've Been Framed', because that show 'jumps the shark' as soon as the opening credits play!
