why is a green room called so?

Because originally, the room for actors to rest in between theatre scenes was painted green - it was believed that the colour rested their eyes from the glare of stage lights. The term remains, even if the colour scheme is not guarenteed.

when green is analysed used chromatography..it has one of the lowest frequencies compared to red's, yellow's and blue's...the lower the frequency(frequency is determined by it's reflection of light, different frequencies determine the shade of the light spectrum reflected) the less it starins the eyes to observe..this is why early green-rooms where painted green.
