Ogmore by Sea

Oh oh oh oh - I know the answer to this one......

Calgary Beach, Isle of Mull. Just stunning. Stay in the castle http://www.lhhscotland.com/house/104.asp or stay B&B in the farm http://www.lhhscotland.com/house/104.asp

Loads of other choices in the north west - Mellon Udrigle (cos its a funny name.... http://www.visitourscotland.co.uk/mellon-udrigle-beach.html , Clashnessie - red sand! - or Talmine on the North coast, opposite the Rabbit Islands on the Kyle of Tongue - what a place!

But Manorbier in South Wales is good, so is Abersoch, north wales http://www.abersoch.co.uk/ - all for different reasons.

Hi dot - Ogmore is very similar to Sandwood Bay, in Sutherland (owned by the John Muir Trust now) - similar look to it and a legend of haunted places, etc etc....
Hi butterfly, hard one to call, we are spoilt the whole way round Britain, From Kent To Scotland, nearly all the beaches are great, I love Dorset, Devon, Pembrokeshire, but my Favourites are near where I live in North Wales, But I am not saying exactly where because of there seclusion & beauty but there is anice beach at Pen Bryn near Newquay, Mid wales that is near perfect, along with Shell Island, come & try them...
anywhere on The Gower, South Wales especially the smaller ones that you have to walk miles to find or the beaches of Cornwall such as Polzeath. Different reasons for different beaches though. SOme are just stunning, others peaceful and uncrowded whilst others are just great for surfing!

any on Anglesey.........And I'm leaving for our caravan as soon as the missus get's home...bye bye

Gower beaches are the Best in the World. Not that I'm biased,of course.

Arch Bay on Alderney, CI...wonderful! And that little bit further south so a little bit warmer!..

Yes I love the Gower beaches too, Caswell, Pobbles and Mewslade being my favourites I think, all for different reasons! In Devon my favourite is Bigbury - it's a lovely sandy beach (unlike Blackpool Sands which has to have sand pits on the beach!) and if the tide's in you can get the sea tractor over to Burgh Island, if the tide's out you can walk across!
My vote is for Portstewart Strand on the beautiful North Antrim coast in Northern Ireland.
I'm not really a beach sort of person but I was impressed by Newgale beach in Pembrokeshire (west of Haverfordwest). When I was there, there wasn't a soul on it and it was over a mile in length too. Nice clear sea as well.
My favourite is Woolacombe in North Devon, soft sand at the top for sitting on, then when the tide goes out, loads of firm sand for playing games, and at the side lots of lovely rock pools for exploring. I wish I was there now!
HOLKHAM on the North Norfolk coast is stunning. There's miles of it, never crowded, beautiful sand dunes, beautiful walks through the forest at the back of the beach. Truly amazing.

Watergate Bay in Cornwall, surrounded by a further 6-7 spectacular beacvhes such as Fistral, Great Western, Crantock etc
... and a year later she answers......
The coast from Berwick upon Tweed to the causeway to Holy Island of Lindisfarne in Northumberland has got to be home to the best beaches in the uk
