i use nero startsmart to burn dvds from my computer (xp). recently when i try i can get through the whole process but when i click burn it comes up with the following message: "Not enough space for temporary files in the specified folder d:/docum ......... (blah blah )..... There are 3081mb available but the recording process will need approximately 4417mb." I've checked the folder and there was nothing in it. I changed it to view hidden files and there was still nothing there. It never had this problem before, and it worked fine for a smaller film. Can anyone help?

Have you checked to see if your hard drive is full?
You may have temporary files taking up space, or you have stocked your computer up with films and there is no room left.
If there is not enough space, you will need to delete some of your old files.
Certainly sounds like your disc(s?) is getting full.
many of the "hardcore" windows temp folder don't show in explorer no matter where you put ticks
(d/l ExplorerXP and see - but be careful)

First try this
Open a text document copy the 4 lines between the ***s into the new text doc

rem *********************************
pause
rd /s /q %temp%\
del /q %temp%\*.*
pause
rem **********************************

save the file to your desktop as deltemp.bat
double click the file .... it will clear the rubbish out of your temp directory.
(use it regularly to keep on top!!!!

empty your recycle bin

also look in nero's settings - somewhere in there you'll find the location of nero's temp directory - if different .... clear that as well

if still no joy .... you must either fit a new HDD (internal or external) ....and then move all your non-programme files to the new disc.

backup your music to CD/dvd (or in your case just CD!)
and then delete from your HDD

or just have a good clearout .... uninstall / delete anything you don't use.
