Have just attended a funeral and was surprised at the choice of music at the end when everyone files out of the church. What would you choose for your funeral? Of course, I'm assuming that you are going to die at some time or other. In the far distant future I hope!
Going Back, by Dusty Springfield. always very poigniant for me, i have also requested Abide with Me, and The Dark is Rising, by Mercury Rev. HOPE IT AIN'T TOO SOON THOUGH.
I would like Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd at some point, preferably in the middle so that everyone would have to sit and listen to it! I always thought something by Enya would be nice but it's mostly too sad. Same goes for Barber's Adagio which would have me blubbing (mind you I wouldn't know about it, would I?)
A BIG character I knew died recently, bless 'er - and at her request came into the chapel to 'The Dambusters' and went out to 'The Ride of the Valkyries'. Made everyone smile!
As for me, it would have to be the You & Me Song by the Wannadies... "It was always you and me, always, and forever" !
i`d have something that whenever the tune was heard by the folk attendin my funeral they`d say 'eeeeee that reminds me of bein at teash`s funeral'
So for me the tune would have to be 'boys of summer' by mr henley
And I for one hate Tina turners Simply the Best because it reminds me of what was played at my uncle ronnies funeral and he was far from being 'simply the best' uncle
mine would b imagine by john lennon cos its a song about peace and death is supposed 2 b peaceful and its a good song 2 cry 2 and i would like whiter shade of pale by procal harem gr8 song thats very underated
