Is it best to book a Cunard cruise for 2008 now or wait until the last minute and hope for a bigger discount?

I assume you've already found big discounts through someone like 1st4cruising.com? In theory bigger ones could come along closer to sailing time - there are usually a lot on the travel pages of weekend newspapers in early November. But of course the one you want might have sold out, in which case you're out of luck. If there's one you really really want to go on, book it now to be sure.

thanks jno I will take a chance and have a look in November
I always use Cruise Traders - got some great deals through them. Also used Gills, Cumbria Cruise Club and Bolsover. Wouldn't touch Voyana - rubbish customer service!

thanks auntie I have never heard of any of these i will have a look at them all.
I strongly recommend Cruisekings, http://www.cruisekings.co.uk/ . They are pretty well unbeatable on price and are also incredibly nice, helpful and super-efficient. We have booked 2 cruises with them and they have been superb.

I haven't sailed with Cunard, but we have just booked a P&O cruise for October 2008 and all the suites and balcony cabins, the cheapest inside cabins and the highest grade of ordinary outside cabin are already full, though it only went on sale a week ago. Cruisekings managed to get us the very last cabin in the grade we wanted!
