The plug on my sunbed gets really hot when plugged into the socket, I have checked the fuse and it isa 13 amp, does anyone know why it gets so hot ? surely this is not right...
Hi Lox, It is either a loose wire in the plug top, or a loose wire or bad contact in the socket, the next step if left on to get warm is a fishy smell, don't let it get to that stage, have it checked, good luck, Ray
In addition to what Ray has said - I have found in several appliances that use a heavy load it is best to fit a particular type of plug manufactured by a company called MK - this particular type of plugs uses a compression screw and type of washer to tighten the wires and have used them sucessfully where other plugs have heated up.
As Ray has said it can also be a bad contact in the socket too - I changed the sockets that use a heavy load in my kitchen to MK ones as well.
