I watched this film for the first time last night but it seemed like I tuned in halfway through. I saw from the part where Edward Nortan and his family are having a debate about Rodney King around a dinner table. Did I miss out on anything? The story made sense so I thought I'd seen most of it?

No it was a debate with his mum's boyfriend who was jewish. It ended up with Edward Norton's character physically fighting with his sister and chucking his mums boyfriend out of their house because he didn't agree with his argument.

That happens after the dinner with the dad but I think it's still quite near the beginning. I think the main bit you missed was the murder that put our Ed in prison. I'll see if I can post this just the once.

Hehehe, yeah you posted just the once! No, I saw him killing the bloke by making him eat the curb so to speak. Oh looks like I saw all of it then...hmm quite a good film. Thought it would be more violent to be honest the way that I have heard people talk about it.

I caught it from the same point as you Doollally, and it really was a good film. Very strong acting from all the cast, and I felt gave a good view from both sides, not just that of the neo-nazi. Particulalry how racism is injected from parents down to children as he experienced from his father's racism. Terribly sad ending, with things coming full circle on Derek.

It certainly wasn't as violent as you'd have thought but hearing Corey's dad from 'Boy Meets World' use racist swear-words was disturbing enough for me!

You missed out on a lot by not seeing the whole film. Ed Norton's portrayal of the reformed racist was superb. He could convey hatred and arrogance with his eyes alone. Bravo! Terrific directing kept you guessing right up to the last second.

I think we missed aobut 15 minutes Doollallygirl ... and according to my DH not a lot that would have made us lose the plot. lol
