Q1: AB picks threads with good responses and leaves them at the top for a couple of days, as obviously people are interested in them. Tomorrow it'll be different questions in different sections.
Q2: LOL means Laughing Out Loud; it just means they think something's funny.
I think some of these postings are made by AB staff using pseudo names. Well lets admit it, they are far more educated and knowledgable than the rest of us putting in inane questions.
True CURLY they have been up for a while, but I had one at the top (and no, KWICKY, I'm not an AB spy) and they said it'd only be there for a day (although it was more like 4 or 5 days...)
AB has to demonstrate to advertisers that it is worth their while advertising on the site , by the number of people logging on and contributing to a thread
Therefore any posting which indicates that it is going to be a long thread , will be kept at the top of the category .
You will have noticed also , that AB has started postings , themselves in the hope of getting a long thread going
Having asked the question last Sunday to Stokeace, only as part of another thread and wanting to get his? attention, and it soon dried up aftewards it does seem rather tedious thats its still at the top and should have been moved as there is much more activity further down
However whilst some of the AB postings may be put on by the staff - I would dispute that they are uniformly more educated and knowledgable as some of the respondents on AB are clearly very intelligent, articulate and erudite. some of them are also good at spelling as well

I am very glad you asked about lol - I have read it so much but even in context could not understand what was meant. I was nervous of asking as I thought everyone else knew and didn't want to show my ignorance
