Are there any legal reasons why I can't have my wages paid into my partners account. I have been having them go into my partners account for the last 4 years and now my employers have told me that this is illegal.

It is your money. You're entitled to have it paid into whichever account you like but I'm slightly surprised that you're having your earnings paid into a bank account over which you apparently have no legal control. I just hope you trust him !
Why don't you make it a joint account?
It's unusual but I can't think that it's illegal.

A good proportion of my wages goes into the government's bank account....
Having run a payrole for many years, we employed someone who wanted his wages paid into his partners account (as this was where they paid the bills/mortgage from) and we certainly never had a problem with it.

Its your money at the end of the day where you would like your wages paid, but I would agree with Wendy and Spudqueen and perhaps make this a joint account or at least make sure you have access to it in some way.
Hmm. What may be worrying them is that they have no evidence that they have paid your wages to you the way things are being done at the moment.
